Nestled in the scenic, seasonable northeastern Piedmont
section of North Carolina, along the North Carolina/Virginia
state line, Warren County is approximately 50 miles north
of Raleigh, 90 miles south of Richmond, and roughly three
hours from either the Blue Ridge Mountains or the Atlantic
Ocean. The county’s mild climate makes it an ideal destination,
with four distinct and picturesque seasons.
Warren County boasts year-round outdoor enjoyment including
hunting, fishing, ATV and motorcross, horseback riding, golf,
and from May to September, swimming, water skiing and other
water sports at Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake. In addition, the
county hosts a wide range of musical and art festivals, parades,
and agricultural events throughout the year.
Founded at the height of the American Revolution, Warren
County is rich in historical tradition and Southern values.
There are over 50 properties listed in the National Register
of Historic Properties here, and the county has three incorporated
municipalities and many other small crossroad communities
including Wise, Oine and Ridgeway.
Warren County has many scenic locations scattered throughout,
such as Cherry Hill Plantation, Buck Spring historic site,
